GPSC CLASS 3 EXAM SYLLABUS 2020


GPSC syllabus has been prepared by Gujarat Public Service Commission. The Commission is constitutionally authorized to set and change the system of GPSC examinations and to take decisions on matters of recruitment, transfer and discipline.

In this article, you will find the complete GPSC syllabus for admission in Gujarat Administrative Services and Gujarat Civil Services administered by Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC).

The GPSC exam is conducted in 2 stages.


  • Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  • Stage 2: Main Exam (Written and Personal Interview)

It is important to go through the entire GPSC syllabus carefully so as not to waste time reading obscure things from the point of view of the exam.

The syllabus of GPSC exam is similar to UPSC syllabus; The only difference is that the GPSC curriculum will have history, culture, geography subjects related to the state of Gujarat.

Some important points to consider in GPSC Syllabus 2020:


To solve questions on science and technology, GPSC exam syllabus candidates do not need any specialization from science stream.
Under the history section, according to the GPSC exam syllabus, candidates need to focus on the history of Gujarat.
According to the GPSC syllabus, candidates under the Department of Geography will have to prepare for the social and economic geography of Gujarat and India.

GPSC takes the exam in 3 stages


  • Preliminary - 2 Papers - Objective Type Questions (MCQ)
  • Main - 6 papers - descriptive type questions

GPSC exam syllabus for Mains

The GPSC exam for Mains exam includes the following papers

Paper 1 - Gujarati
Paper 2 - English
Paper 3 - Essay
Paper 4 - General Studies 1
Paper 5 - General Studies 2
Paper 6 - General Studies 3
The syllabus of detailed GPSC examination for Gujarati paper of Mains examination is given below

Maximum marks of 150 marks for each paper

  • 900 marks of all major papers
  • 100 marks for personality test (interview)
  • The final selection will take into account the total marks for 1000 marks
  • Form of questions Descriptive type questions

GPSC Personality Test / Interview is held for candidates who clear the GPSC Main Stage of GPSC Exam. The interview (in GPSC exam pattern) is for 100 marks and tests general aptitude for general awareness, character, expression, personality, intelligence, and service.


GPSC Exam Course - Elementary

The GPSC syllabus significantly overlaps with the UPSC syllabus for the IPS exam. With the new GPSC pattern and GPSC syllabus, candidates preparing simultaneously for the Civil Services Exam (UPSC) and State Civil Services Exam will get a little easier operation.
